The ships stay here!
When the previous Conservative government committed to a National Shipbuilding Strategy that would span 30 years, Halifax was selected as the location to build Canada's next generation of Royal Canadian Navy and Canadian Coast Guard ships.
The now $60 billion dollar shipbuilding program will be the largest government spend in history and will provide our serving members in the Royal Canadian Navy and Canadian Coast Guard with state-of-the-art equipment to secure our coasts and contribute to international peace and security.
The new fleet will meet the needs of our service men and women and this investment into Nova Scotia will provide well-paying employment for generations. Our region will be a leader in shipbuilding technology and other important investment in this maritime region will follow.
It is without question that this contract must stay here.
As your Member of Parliament for Sackville-Preston-Chezzetcook, I am committed to holding the government to their word that the ships stay here.
